Last week I was very lucky to attend the Cosmo for Latina's Fun Fearless Awards. An evening dedicated to inspirational Hispanic men and women who have done great work within their community. Oh my gosh, how utterly humbling an evening it was. I came away feeling empowered, inspired and proud. The women (and men) at this event were so passionate, so full of hope for the future, that I couldn't help but clap and cheer, and wish that I could be a part of their community!

The event started with watermelon cocktails and canapes at Hearst Tower, near Columbus Circle (which by the way has THE most stunning view of Central Park). We stood chatting whilst celebrities walked the red carpet. We were then taken to a beautifully decorated dining room, decked out in fuchsia and orange. The effect was sumptuous and sexy. As we ate our way through 3 delicious courses we listened as 10 Latin women and 1 Latin man received awards for the role they play in society.
Perez Hilton and Demi Lovato were amongst the winners, and whilst it was fantastic to see such well know personalities being honoured, it was really the other winners that caught my attention, as they were the (up-to-now) lesser-known heroes of the US Hispanic community. From the Marine who suffered a terrible ordeal whilst serving her country, and went on to change policy for other victims, to the young woman who gave an emotional account of why she promotes the arts as a way to curb teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and transgression. The award winners were diverse, passionate and influential.
I believe this is only the second year that Cosmo for Latina's has run the Fun Fearless Awards. I sincerely hope they continue the tradition, as it's an incredible accolade for some very deserving people.
Now onto the fun bit...
I wore black to the event but added a pop of colour in the form of my new favourite necklace from Bauble Bar. I also wore some black pointy suede stilettos but took them off after about an hour because my feet went numb! Thank god for back-up flats!!
I did my hair and make-up in about 10 minutes flat because we were running out the door. I used the Remington teardrop curling wand to add soft waves to my hair (and disguise the New York frizz that I've been falling victim to recently). I then touched up my makeup on the train with a couple of miracle products including my Naked palette, Miracle Skin Transformer bronzer and Benefit Gimme Brow gel.
After the event we were given a very nice goody-bag that included a copy of the magazine and a Macy's gift card. I'm told that the bags also contained a lipstick and nail varnish. Mine sadly did not, but that's OK, I have too many anyway ;)

My favourite necklace right now:
Hanging with Perez!
